Israeli Passover

Passover is the celebration that  commemorates the story of the Exodus, in which the ancient Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt.

The story behind the festival is that God helped the ancient Israelites escape from slavery in Egypt by inflicting ten plagues upon the Egyptians that caused the Pharaoh to release Israelite slaves.

When Pharaoh freed the Jews, the story is that they left in such a hurry that they could not wait for bread dough to rise (leaven). As a result, for the duration of Passover no leavened bread is eaisraelten, and Matzo (a flat unleavened bread) is a symbol of the holiday.

About Food in Israel

It is said that Israel is heaven for “street food “. Anywhere you go in the country, the streets are lined with countless cheap eateries of all kinds.

In Israel, “street food” is a kind of fast food that is literally eaten while standing in the street, while in some cases there are places to sit down.

One of the typical foods, as we could see in the video is Falafel.

Falafel is most often served in a pita, with pickles, tahina, hummus, cut vegetable salad and often, harif, a hot sauce.

How about your country?

Is “street food” popular in your country?
Is it funny to eat standing in the street?
Is there any food in your country similar to pita?
